Park Jin Young signs on with J. Tune Entertainment

Singer/producer Park Jin Young has signed an exclusive contract with J. Tune Entertainment.

A representative of JYP Entertainment revealed to Newsen on December 30th, “Park Jin Young has decided to contract with J. Tune. His contract with JYP Entertainment expired back in 2006, and since then, he has not been under any contract. Park Jin Young has now decided that he’d like to join J. Tune.”

On February of 2011, J. Tune Entertainment will be electing Park Jin Young and CEO Jung Wook as members of the Board of Directors during a general stockholders meeting.

The current board members will resign, and the company will change its name to JYP Entertainment.

Regarding the name change, representatives of J. Tune Entertainment stated, “It seems to be a reflection of Park Jin Young’s thoughts on the direction J. Tune will be taking in the future.”

Other JYP Entertainment artists such as 2PM and the Wonder Girls will not be contracting with J. Tune due to their current contracts with JYP Entertainment.

So what does this series of announcements mean?

Essentially, by singing on Park Jin Young and placing him on the Board of Directors, J. Tune is taking steps to become a bigger label (like JYPE). Park Jin Young will be working towards boosting J. Tune’s reputation and clout as an agency.
